Probe into plane crash

NEW DELHI, JULY 30. The Civil Aviation Ministry has ordered a probe into the plane crash in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday in which five people, including the crew, were killed. The probe will be conducted by the Director General of Civil Aviation, according to the AAI release issued here today.

Sharif's son denied entry

LONDON, JULY 30. Mr. Hasan Sharif, son of the deposed Pakistan Prime Minister, Mr. Nawaz Sharif, has been refused re-entry into Britain and he faces threats of imprisonment if he returns to Islamabad, the Sunday Telegraph reported today.

Four killed in ambush

IMPHAL, JULY 30. Four Assam Rifles personnel were killed and as many injured in an ambush today by suspected militants near Mao bordering Nagaland.

This was the first ambush in Mao area after the signing of ceasefire between the Centre and the NSCN (IM).

Inflation rate up

NEW DELHI, JULY 30. The annual rate of inflation has once again crossed the six per cent level and stood at 6.12 per cent during the week ended on July 15 as against 5.92 per cent in the previous week. The rate was 1.99 per cent in the corresponding week last year.

Nun gives slip to kidnappers

NEW DELHI, JULY 30.

A Catholic nun of Sahibabad, who was abducted today afternoon by three unidentified men in a Maruti van, managed to escape when the kidnappers stopped the vehicle to pick up an accomplice.

Tourist killed in blast

SRINAGAR, JULY 30. A tourist from Rajasthan was killed and five others injured in a grenade blast today at Gulmarg near here. According to police, an unidentified militant hurled a grenade towards a vehicle parked in the main market.
