Cong. plans rally in Delhi

By Our Special Correspondent

VISAKHAPATNAM, JULY 30. Congress leaders plan to organise a protest rally in Delhi against the ``anti- people'' policies being pursued by the Telugu Desam Government in the State.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Sunday, Mr. V. Hanumantha Rao, former PCC president, said the rally was aimed at informing people of other States which were thinking high of Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister, as a great CEO. `They should know how the people of Andhra Pradesh are kicked, lathicharged by police for voicing their protest against anti- people policies like the power tariff hike. This Government is a sellout to the World Bank. That is why we want take the issue to Delhi bazaar and I will seek the permission of the PCC president for the purpose,`` he said.

The PCC had also given a call to women to raise the issue of the power tariff hike in the coming Janmabhoomi programme, he said, and claimed that the DWCRA programme was not launched by the TDP Government. Most of the schemes like Mundadugu and Adarana were Congress programmes, he said.

Mr. Hanumantha Rao said he had come to the city to participate in Monday's `Picket the Collectorate' programme, to be jointly organised by the district and city Congress committees. Other leaders would take part in similar programmes at Warangal (PCC president, Mr. M. Satyanarayana Rao), Cuddapah (Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy) and Guntur (Mr. K. Rosaiah), he said.
