Bombay blast
Sir, - Apart from church blasts, there is one more unnecessary
and avoidable blast created in Bombay in the form of arresting
the Shiva Sena chief, Mr. Bal Thackeray, just to embarrass the
NDA Government at the Centre and also satisfy some segments for
an imaginary political gain.
The case in point is an older one and revival of this after seven
long years is an irresponsible act.
The Bombay episode has only helped in creating a lot of tension
among the public, with costly damage to the Assembly house which
has to be repaired out of the taxpayers money, huge expenditure
for employing security forces, unnecessary closure of many
establishments and schools, a sudden plunge in stock market
prices with long term blow to government secured investments like
Unit Trust Scheme which is run purely on savings from the hard
earned salaried class, etc. The ruling politicians should realise
that their first priority should be the growth and welfare of
people and not their political play, like the Thackeray episode.
