Clipper art

ARE YOU one of those who has been sporting the same hairdo for several years, only because you are not sure how a new style would suit you? Or do you want to cut your long dark tresses short and give it a mild bronze shimmer - but unsure about the make-over? Well...Here is how you can give your crowning glory a cutting edge!

Clippers, at Cisons Complex, Montieth Road, Egmore (Phone 8554084) has launched "virtual make-over", a software-based hairstyling technique that enables a client to try out various hairstyles "virtually"on the computer before deciding on the cut that would suit her best.

Now to the mane event. Not really hair-splitting, mind you. All you have to do is sit facing the computer which is fitted with a sophisticated camera that captures the face and instantly transmits the same onto the monitor. After the poise and expression are adjusted, the photo is clicked - by the camera and the mouse! Next, you can traverse through 250 styles matching them to your face. The beautician would help you shortlist the styles and printouts can be taken for consultation and reassurance at home. The advantage of the virtual make-over package is that one needn't scissor without actually seeing the look to be sported.

Short, medium, long, straight, curly...there are styles to suit every face. The beautician makes suggestions based on bone structure, features, colour of hair and skin and of course, lifestyle. Casual beach look, tousled romantic, formal urban chic... you could now try them all out. Add body and bounce, texturise the sides and even try low maintenance, anti-tangle and humidity defying hairdos.

"The package has come as a boon to those having a second thought about trying different styles. Initially, we thought only the upwardly mobile lot would opt for it. But the facility attracts a number of middleclass women who have reservations about trying out fresh styles. Moreover, it costs only Rs 200 to browse the styles and shortlist one's choice," says Medha Raju, proprietrix, Clippers.

Sultry curls that frame your face, edgy unconventional look, shoulder length textured cut with curly ends to give an illusion of volume...wondering how you'd look in any of these hairdos? Virtual make-over is the simple answer wihout making a crater in your pocket or psyche!
