U.S., Pak. open talks on extradition
ISLAMABAD, AUG. 9. The United States and Pakistan have opened
talks on extradition of wanted Pakistani nationals on corruption
charges as well as legal procedure for the same, officials said
today.
Mr. Harry Marshall of the U.S. Law and Justice Department is
visiting the National Accountability Bureau to explain his
country's legal position necessary for extradition.
The Pakistani Interior Minister, Mr. Moinuddin Haider, said he
had discussed the issue with the U.S. ambassador. ``I think the
Americans now understand our position,'' he said.
The U.S. official would discuss the extradition issue and the
procedure involved in it and brief the Pakistani officials on the
subject.
