By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, AUG 9. TechContinuum, a U.S.-based company, today announced its intentions of joining hands with the Delhi-based DNC Communications for developing wireless software for Internet access. It will simultaneously support more than 30 start up companies financially as well as with managerial expertise, said the TechContinuum India CEO, Mr. K. C. Pandey, here today.

After evaluating the potential in several countries, TechContinuum has also decided to locate its wireless software development in India. This will be in keeping with its role as a wireless technology incubator and venture capital company with alliances in seven countries.

The newly set up company, Techcontinuum India, has already started executing a major WAP software development assignment from its U.S. principal. To be based in Delhi, the company plans to increase its manpower strength to 100 software engineers within one year, said Mr. Pandey. As wireless software development skills are in its infancy, the U.S. firm has agreed to impart training to the Indian company's software engineers.

The company will specially target rural and remote areas where its solutions will enable Internet access at a affordable price. Mr. Pandey foresees an emerging market for his company's products in view of the Central Government's recent announcement of taking Internet to villages. DNC Communications is a network and bandwidth management company with proven strength in setting up and maintaining terrestrial networks backed by specialists from telecom and IT fields.

TechContinuum focusses on conceiving Internet-related/WAP applications for wireless and making them commercially viable.
