U.S. recognises India's n-concern

WASHINGTON, SEPT. 2. In a roundabout manner, the U.S. has begun to recognise India's need for a nuclear deterrent because China has nuclear weapons.

Departing from the previous practice of trying to limit Indian concern to Pakistan and bilateralising the issue, the President Mr. Bill Clinton, on Friday, acknowledged that if China built up more nuclear weapons, India may feel compelled to follow suit and then Pakistan would also do the same.
