Bouquets and brickbats for policemen
By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 3. The Chief Minister, Mr. E. K.
Nayanar, today showered both bouquets and brickbats on the
policemen who were in charge of the investigation of the
Suryanelli case which culminated in the conviction of 35 persons.
His praise was for the officers in the Special Team appointed by
his Government, and his rebuke, for the officials who had handled
the investigation in 1996 when the UDF Government was in office.
These officials were severely criticised by the court also in its
verdict on the case. Mr. Nayanar today directed the Home
Department to suggest appropriate rewards and punishment to the
officers in the respective teams.
