Nusru's 'associates' rob two in City
By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE, SEPT. 3. Four alleged associates of the gangster,
Nusru, who is in jail, robbed two persons of cash and other
articles in Jayanagar and J.P.Nagar police station limits,
respectively, on Saturday might.
Police chased the culprits after they found them moving in a car
on C.M.H.Road in Indiranagar police station limits on the early
hours of Sunday. Their attempt, however, went in vain.
They said that the gang stopped Mr. Mohamed Sajid's motorcycle at
16th Main, Jayanagar IV Block, near B.E.S.College, and assaulted
the pillion rider. They snatched away a suitcase containing Rs.
10,000 in cash and some clothes from him and escaped.
A few minutes later, they accosted a businessman, Mr.
C.N.Sudheendra Kumar, at I Main, KSRTC Layout, J.P.Nagar II Phase
and relieved him of a briefcase containing Rs. 40,000 in cash,
keys of his shop and a diary. The culprits attacked Mr. Kumar
with an iron rod, police said.
The gangsters were between 20 and 25 years of age. They spoke
English, Kannada and Hindi, the complainants said.
The Jayanagar and J.P. Nagar police have registered cases. Senior
police officers visited the spots.
Nusru's associates have been giving the police a tough time
during the last two weeks. They assaulted an advocate and
abducted his friend in Viveknagar police station limits last
week. A few days prior to this incident, they committed robberies
in Bangalore North and Hoskote in Bangalore Rural District.
Police said that the culprits were using a white Maruti Zen car
stolen from Banaswadi about a month ago. Nusru and his gang had
kidnapped over 25 live band singers a few months ago.
Killed: Jagdeesh Naik (35), a doctor, was killed on the spot when
his scooter rammed into a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport
Corporation (BMTC) bus on Airport Road in Ulsoor police station
limits on Saturday night.
Police said that the bus was parked on the wrong side near the
Command Hospital. Its driver, Narayana, has been arrested. The
vehicle was detained.
Suicide: Gayathri (18) committed suicide by setting herself
ablaze at her house in Rajajinagar police station limits on
Sunday morning.
Police said that there was no one in the house at 64th Main,
Rajajinagar III Block, when the incident took place. The reason
for the suicide is not known.
