Samsung begins CTV exports

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 3. Samsung India on Saturday flagged off the first export consignment of colour televisions to Western Europe from its Noida factory. The first shipment of 40,000 `Made in India' CTVs comprises four models of 14 inch TVs. The Korean company plans to export 20,000 more TVs during this financial year.

``Starting with modest exports of 60,000 CTVs, we should be in a position to increase out exports to two lakhs next year,'' said Samsung India Managing Director, Mr. K. S. Kim. The company plans to sell 5.5 lakh CTVs in the domestic market this year. This amounts to a market share of just over 10 per cent in the domestic market.
