Team MRF comes out with flying colours

CHENNAI, SEPT. 3. Team MRF Ltd. came out with flying colours winning the top six placings overall and the first three positions in the Group `A' modified touring cars class and Group `N' unmodified production cars class in the gruelling PARA-HRA monsoon rally 2000 held in Pune.

Beating the 16 strong contenders for the PARA-HRA Crown, Team MRF came up with the best timings in the special stages in the two- leg rally according to a press release from MAI.

Team MRF's Leelakrishnan and Farouk Ahmed were the overall and Touring Cars class winners, followed by defending National champion Naren Kumar and co-driver Ramkumar. Karandip Singh and Jaidas Menon won the Production Cars class and were third overall while Jagat Nanjappa and partner finished fourth overall and second in Production Cars class.

Eleven cars finished the rally out of the 12 starters on Sunday. While Vijayant Choudary (MRF) was the lone drop out, Palash Tavaria and Sagar Muthappa (MRF) who had pulled out on Saturday ran Sunday's leg to gain points for the MAI Indian National rally championship. The Pune event was the second leg of the seven-leg National championship. The next leg is in Goa between September 22 and 24.
