PM's U.S. visit a failure, says Swamy

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 15. The Janata Party president, Dr. Subramanian Swamy, today described the Prime Minister's visit to the United States as a ``failure'' saying that no leader had called on him (Mr. Vajpayee) during his stay in New York.

Talking to reporters here, Dr. Swamy said while 128 leaders headed delegations to the summit, not one leader called on Mr. Vajpayee or had invited him to meet them.

When Mr. Vajpayee addressed the U.N., only 15 per cent of the delegates were present, he said.

Referring to the U.S. President, Mr. Bill Clinton's offer to play a role in the Indo-Pak affairs, Dr. Swamy said the statement endorsed the viewpoint of the Pakistan Chief Executive, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, about Kashmir being at the core of the problem.
