Immigration racket busted; 41 passengers held
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, SEPT. 20. The city police busted a racket of fake
immigration documents after arresting 41 women passengers who
were leaving for Kuwait from Hyderabad on Tuesday.
A case was registered against the passengers and the agents under
the Indian Passport Act and for forgery and cheating under the
Indian Penal Code (IPC). The passengers who belonged to Cuddapah,
West Godavari, Nellore and Chittoor districts and Hyderabad city,
along with the agents, have been handed over to the Begumpet
police.
According to a press release, the police formed special teams
after the special branch alerted that some persons were leaving
for Gulf countries using fake immigration documents. During the
check at Hyderabad Airport on Tuesday, 41 women passengers were
found to be possessing fake documents with forged signatures and
fake Emigration Check Not Required (ECNR) stamps.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that they were going to
Kuwait and other Gulf countries with the help of some agents to
work as servant maids. They reportedly paid money ranging from
Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 40,000 each. The agents were identified as M.
Madhusudhan (30), Budwel, Cuddapah district, P. Jayachandra (27),
Cuddapah, and Lingam Ravi of Upprapalli village in Cuddapah
district.
The agents arranged these fake documents to circumvent clearance
from the Protector of Emigrants, Ministry of Labour, Government
of India. A special team had been constituted to trace out the
main agents.
