Report on national security by next month
While asserting that security agencies and
police forces had made silent progress in recent times in
preserving the country's internal security, the Union Home
Minister, Mr. L. K. Advani, today asked the keepers of law to
instil a sense of security in the common man.
No differences with Sinha: Naik
The Petroleum Minister, Mr. Ram Naik, today
denied any differences with the Finance Minister, Mr. Yashwant
Sinha, over duty cuts on petroleum products. He said, ``there is
no difference with anybody.''

Pension benefits to all BSNL staff
The Government today finalised the service
conditions and financial issues for corporatisation of the
Telecom Department from October 1. Accepting one of the major
demands of the employees, the Cabinet agreed to give pension
benefits as per government rules to all employees of the proposed
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) even after their absorption.
New virus prevents access to anti-virus sites
A complex computer virus named MTX threatens
to spread fast via e-mail and prevents the affected user from
accessing prominent anti-virus sites on the Internet. The virus,
with three components, a virus, worm and a backdoor, enters the
machine as an attachment with one of 32 names, but has a blank
message body and subject line in the e- mail, Prognet
Technologies, which provides free detection of the virus at its
website, www.fireantivirus.com, said.
Dinosaur eggs found
A Vadodara-based scientist, Prof. Atul Joshi,
has discovered eggs of dinosaurs dating back to nearly 65 million
years from Bagh, a village in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh.

Top militant killed in J&K
The Divisional commander of Harkat-ul-
Mujahideen was killed in a gun battle here on Wednesday. Four
civilians and two security personnel also lost their lives in the
encounter. Two houses were damaged in the fighting which
continued for more than five hours.
