Kostounica all set to take oath


BELGRADE, OCT. 7. The Yugoslav president-elect, Mr. Vojislav Kostounica, will take the oath of office to replace Mr. Slobodan Milosevic after Parliament convenes today.

``The constituent session of the Yugoslav Parliament will begin today at 5.00 p.m. local time (10.30 p.m. IST) and will be held in the Belgrade City Assembly,'' Mr. Dragoljub Micunovic, a leader of the Democratic Opposition of Serbia (DOS), told the Beta news agency.

He said Mr. Kostounica would be sworn in during the ceremony.

India congratulates

India today warmly congratulated Mr. Kostounica and hoped that the hardships faced by people in that country over the past years would now end immediately.
