L&T-John Deere's Pune facility

MUMBAI, OCT. 7. L&T-John Deere Ltd. (LTJD), a 50:50 joint venture
of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Deere & Company of the U.S., has set
up a facility to manufacture agricultural tractors at Sanaswade
near Pune in Maharashtra.
The facility was formally inaugurated by Mr. A. M. Naik, MD and
CEO, L&T, and Mr. Fred Korndorf, Deere & Company's President,
Worldwide Agricultural Equipment. Mr. H. Holck-Larsen, L&T's co-
founder and chairman emeritus, handed over the keys of the 410ST
tractor to an LTJD dealer.
The facility's manufacturing is carried out at three inter-linked
factories: transmission, engine and vehicle assembly. LTJD
tractors are designed for more power and enhanced comfort,
greater safety and reliability. The company recently launched its
Model 5310 tractor (55 hp). Other models to be introduced shortly
include 5203 (47 hp), 5103 (37 hp) and 5410 (70 hp).
The company has a network of 40 dealers in Maharashtra, Gujarat,
Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Haryana and
Punjab.
