Award for Beenamol

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 7. K. M. Beenamol, who became the third Indian woman athlete to qualify for an Olympic track and field semifinal at Sydney recently, has been selected for this year's Jimmy George award instituted in memory of the late volleyball ace.

Announcing this here on Friday, the Jimmy George Foundation chairman, Mr. M. K. Joseph, said the award will be distributed at a function being organised at Peravoor - Jimmy George's birthplace - on November 30. The award will carry a cash component of Rs. 10,000 and a plaque.
