Three extremists killed in encounter

GUWAHATI, OCT. 7.Two NDFB militants were killed in an encounter with the 15 Dogra Regiment in lower Assam's Darrang District today, according to the police here.

The two extremists, identified as Sukur Singh Daimary and Khetjan Daimary, died on the spot in an exchange of fire with the Army at Hapamara village. The Army recovered one 9 mm carbine with magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition, and a revolver.

Meanwhile a NLFT extremist was killed in an encounter with the police at Shyamnagar in West Tripura District early today, the police said here. A joint team of Tripura State Rifles, police and the CRPF acting on a tip-off raided the house of a collaborator of the NLFT at Shyamnagar at dawn and seized a revolver and a grenade from the house.
