JD(U) rally in Davangere today
By Our Staff Correspondent
DAVANGERE, OCT. 15. The Janata Dal (United) Davangere unit has
said that the State and Union governments were "anti-people". The
party has decided to take out a protest rally in the city on
Monday in protest against their "anti-people" policies. It would
also submit a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday evening, Mr. Bhoj
Raj, President of the unit, said that the Union Government had
failed to prevent increase in prices of essential commodities and
raised the prices of petroloeum prodcuts. This had caused
difficulties to the common man. The NDA Government was not
following its election manifesto. People had high expectations
from the Prime Minister, Mr. A.B.Vajpayee, he added.
The State Government had also failed to take up any programme for
the people. The Chief Minister, Mr. S.M.Krishna, was trying to
improve information technology only instead of taking care of
people's problems in rural areas. He asked whether the Chief
Minister had annonced any steps for the welfare of the people in
rural areas. The administration had come to a standstill. Mr.
Krishna and his colleagues were saying that they were busy with
the abduction issue whenever they were queried on administrative
issues. The Government had failed to secure the release of Mr.
Raj Kumar from the clutches of Veerappan. The Chief Minister
should have tendered his resignation when the court made the
observation that the Government should not stay in power if it
could not secure the actor's release. He urged the Chief Minister
to take alternative steps to secure his release immediately.
