Archies to expand in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI, OCT. 21. Archies Greetings, a public limited listed company engaged in the manufacture and distribution of greeting cards, stationery, gifts and related social expressions products, is planning to strengthen its presence in Tamil Nadu. Addressing presspersons here today, Mr. Anil Moolchandani, chairman & managing director of the company said ``Tamil Nadu has been a very promising and favourable market and we have decided to offer our complete range of products by launching an exclusive outlet in Chennai.'' The company already has six franchise outlets here.

Mr. Moolchandani said the store would have a kiosk and would provide the facility to deliver the greetings or gifts anywhere in the country. In the second phase the company would arrange to deliver them anywhere in the world and this would happen by April next, he said.

Archies has a chain of more than 470 franchise outlets in 120 locations and a wide retail network to cater to consumers all over the country. Besides it has three stores in Sri Lanka and seven in Bangladesh.

Mr. Moolchandani said the size of the gifts and greetings market in India was Rs. 300 crores and Archies commanded 45 per cent market share.

Archies has also forayed into the net through a subsidiary and launched a vertical portal archiesonline.com bringing the entire range of Archies products right into the homes, with a click.
