Girl dies as gun goes off accidentally
JAMSHEDPUR, OCT. 25. The five- year-old daughter of a Bihar
police constable was killed as her father's service revolver she
was playing with accidentally went off, police said here today.
Constable Ram Bahadur had given the revolver to his daughter
Nisha after removing the cartridges as she had demanded a toy-gun
when he was shopping for groceries near his residence at Bhatia
Basti yesterday, the sources said.
He told police during interrogation that he was unaware that one
cartridge had remained in the handgun.
The girl was rushed to hospital where she was declared brought
dead, police said.
Ram Bahadur, an official body-guard of the principal of Mirza
Ghalib college, Gaya, was here on leave to celebrate Diwali.
The firearm has been seized and a case registered against the
constable.
