Hurriyat leaders seek support for solving Kashmir issue early
DOHA, NOV. 13. Two senior Hurriyat leaders, Molvi Omer Farooq and
Maulana Abbas Ansari, who are currently here in connection with
the ``ninth Islamic summit, today made it clear that their
mission was not to go for India bashing, but to seek support for
early resolution of the Kashmir issue through dialogue and
peaceful means.
Both the leaders, who held talks with representatives of various
Islamic countries on the sidelines of the summit, said that the
Kashmiris wanted peace to end suffering of the people of Jammu
and Kashmir.
``Our mission is not to criticise the Indian government or to
side with Pakistan, but to work for achieving peaceful solution
of the Kashmir issue, which has been the root- cause of tension
in the South Asian region.''
Today they held talks with the chief executive of Pakistan,
General Pervez Musharraf, and discussed with him latest political
and security situation in the state. Pakistan-occupied Kashmir
Prime Minister, Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, and several others were
present there.
