Sethi continues winning spree

MUMBAI, NOV. 13. Former World champion Geet Sethi of India continued his winning spree when he drubbed John Dinsmore of Northern Ireland 4-0 in a Group-B league match at the World Open billiards championship at Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Earlier, Sethi had beaten 21-year-old Matthew Bolton of Australia and the dangerous Englishman Ian Williamson in his first two league matches, as per information received here on Monday.

Sethi along with former World runner-up Devendra Joshi, who defeated 55-year-old Richard Brennan of the Republic of Ireland 4-2 from Group-D, look set to qualify for last 16 stage from their respective groups.

Sethi will now run into Englishman Darren Kell in his last league match while the Mumbai-based Joshi needs a win from the remaining two matches against World number five Chris Shutt and top amateur from England Tony Mackinder.

Among other Indians in the fray Ashok Shandilya topped Group-E crushing 15-year-old compatriot Pankaj Advani 4-1 while former National champion Alok Kumar turned in a fine performance to beat his countryman Manoj Kothari 4-0 in a Group-F match.

Another Mumbai-based cueist Nalin Patel crushed Franz Meszaros of Austria 4-0 from Group-F while another Indian Dhruv Sitwala lost 2-4 to World number six Roxton Chapman of England.
