By Our Staff Reporter
ANANTAPUR, NOV. 24. The Anantapur district police have unearthed
and seized an arms dump belonging to the CPI-ML Pothula Suresh
faction of the PWG, according to the Director-General of Police,
Mr. H.J. Dora. Ten firearms, including one AK-47 and large
quantity of ammunition, were seized.
Disclosing this to newspersons here on Friday, the DGP said the
police had acted upon information and had arrested Vadde Nagaraju
(22), Talari Nagaraju (25), Boya Anjaneyulu (25) and Chakali
Nagaraju (25), all belonging to the Gollapalli dalam of the group
which was named after their village from their hideout, near
Guttur.
After interrogation, one AK-47 with a magazine and 20 rounds of
ammunition, three .303 rifles with 20 rounds, three double-
barrel guns with 150 rounds and two single-barrel guns were
recovered from their hideout. In another operation, a member of
the Mudinayanipalli dalam, also of the Pothula Suresh group, M.
Gangappa, was arrested. One countrymade revolver and 10 rounds of
ammunition were recovered from him.
Gangappa revealed during interrogation that the Pothula Suresh
group had three dalams and all of them were using the same set of
weapons, under the control of one Mareppa, who used to allot the
weapons to the dalams as and when required.
The DGP said the dalams of the Pothula Suresh group had been
using the weapons to intimidate people such as affluent farmers,
businessmen and contractors for extorting huge amounts of money
for lavish living.
