Parvathi, Bhaskar Acharya to get Attimabbe Award

BANGALORE, NOV. 24. Eminent Kannada writers, Ms. H.S. Parvathi
and Dr. N.Bhaskar Acharya, have been chosen for this year's
Attimabbe Award. This award is given every year to accomplished
literary writers. Sixty-six year-old Ms. Parvathi has written 45
books, including short stories, novels, translations, essays,
biography and children's literature. She has served as the
secretary and president of the Kannada Lekhakiyara Sangha. She
has also been in the executive committee of the Kannada Sahitya
Parishat, Karnataka Sahitya Academy, Karnataka Film Award
Selection Committee and the Censor Board.
Dr. N.Bhaskar Acharya is a medical practitioner. With a penname,
``Aarchi'', he has written several works including
``Jiralegalu,'' ``Dwandwa,'' ``Vyavasthe'' and ``Abhyasa Prayoga
Parinama.''
The awards will be presented at a function at the National
College, (Basavanagudi) premises here on Sunday.
