Left Front MLAs plan protest

By Our Special Correspondent

CALCUTTA, NOV. 25. West Bengal's ruling Left Front MLAs will stage a sit-in before Parliament on December 7 and organise a Statewide strike to protest the NDA Government's failure to release funds for flood relief. Briefing presspersons after a meeting today, Mr. Sailen Dasgupta, Front Chairman, said the leftist trade unions would finalise the date of the strike.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress chief, Ms. Mamata Banerjee, has also directed the party's labour arm, to organise a rally at Shahid Minar in Central Calcutta, on December 23 to protest what the party leaders said, ``the Centre's certain anti-people policies such as the decision to close down the public sector units and privatise banks''.
