Laugh lines from the North

BRAHMACHARI AND spinster politicians in poetic dalliance, to the tune of film numbers.

A Laloo trying to make `rabri' (a milk sweet) and put it on the `kursi'.

Humour in verse on Saturday night at the Anna Auditorium. The event: a `kavi sammelan' on the occasion of foundation day of the Rajasthan Cosmo Club Foundation.

From Veerappan to the Bomb, from politics to entertainment, from Kaun Banega Crorepati to match-fixing, there was hardly anything current that was left untouched.

The panel of poets who jested and poked fun at contemporary life included Mr. Surendra Dubey, Mr. Gajendra Solanki and Dr. Kirti Kale from New Delhi, Mr. Yusuf Bharadwaj from Haryana, and Dr. Surendra Dubey from Chhatisgarh.

A few romantic lines from Dr. Kirti Kale spiced up the evening while Mr. Solanki enthused them with patriotic songs.

Also on the occasion, about 20,000 pieces of free clothes were distributed to 27 organisations who are working for different downtrodden sections in the city.

Two students were also given scholarships.
