Rs. 1.1 cr. sanctioned for repair of 15 roads

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, NOV. 26. The Public Works Department has accorded administrative sanction for the repair of 15 main roads in Thiruvanthapuram West assembly constituency at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.1 crore.

The Kaithamukku-Kavaradi-Pettah road will be resurfaced at a cost of Rs. 9.8 lakhs, the General Hospital-Vanchiyoor road (Rs. 10 lakhs), Enchakkal-Pettah drainage road (Rs. 5 lakhs) and the Vattimurichankotta-Padinjarakotta road at an estimated cost of Rs. 5 lakhs, Mr. Antony Raju, MLA, said in a release here today.

The retaining wall in Shanghumughom, which was destroyed in sea erosion, will be reconstructed at a cost of Rs. 10 lakhs. The Thekamoodu-Plamoodu road will be resurfaced at an estimated cost of Rs. 10 lakhs, the Thampuranmukku-Moolavilakom junction road (Rs. 7 lakhs), Vadayakkad-Moolavilakom road (Rs. 7.1 lakhs), Chackai KSEB-Highway road (Rs. 7.56 lakhs) and Rs. 2.80 lakhs for the repair and laying of concrete slabs in the road from Sreevarahom Mukkolakkal junction to G.K. junction.

A sum of Rs. 10 lakhs had been sanctioned by the PWD for the construction of a drain from Paravankunnu to Panajikkalthodu, Rs. 3.85 lakhs for the widening of the culvert near Kumrichantha in Ambalathara-Ponthura road and Rs. 10 lakhs for the Attakulangara-

Kothalam-Enchakkal road. Apart from these, sanction has been given for the repair of the Manacaud-Mukkolakkal G. K. junction road and the Shanghumughom-All Saints College road.
