Ex-PMs lukewarm to third front: Chandra Shekhar

By our Staff Correspondent

CHANDIGARH, NOV. 27. The former Prime Minister, Mr. Chandra Shekhar, today expressed annoyance at the inertia in the formation of a third Front to provide an alternative to the BJP and the Congress, which he accused of following an ``anti- people'' programme.

In an informal interaction with presspersons here today, Mr. Chandra shekhar was peeved at the attitude of two former Prime Ministers who had torpedoed the formation of a group of former Prime Ministers.

It was proposed that this club comment on various developments and the Government's decisions.

Referring to his meetings with two former Prime Ministers, Mr. Chandra Shekhar said they attempted to stay away, arguing that they had retired from politics and hence could not make any meaningful contribution to the third front's formation.

On his meeting with other senior leaders, including those of the Left parties, he said there was no major progress.
