Laloo in judicial custody as bail lapses
By Our Staff Correspondent
PATNA, NOV. 28. The former Chief Minister and RJD president, Mr.
Laloo Prasad Yadav, was remanded to judicial custody on the
technical ground that his provisional bail in connection with the
disproportionate assets case was not renewed even as it lapsed
today.
The CBI designated court remanded Mr. Yadav to judicial custody
soon after the latter surrendered with the lapse of the
provisional bail granted to him by the Patna High Court.
The CBI Judge, Mr. S. K. Pathak, sent Mr. Yadav to the Patna
Central Jail, Beur, with orders to the IG (Prisons) to make
special security arrangements for him there.
The procedural wrangle cropped up as Mr. Justice S. K. Singh, who
comprises the one-man bench of the Patna High Court, was out of
Patna and could not take up hearing on the petition seeking
extension of the provisional bail of Mr. Yadav yesterday.
