Shifting of Gandhi Hospital: plea to honour NTR's promise

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, NOV. 28. The Marredpally Mandal Council of the Communist Party of India, on Tuesday, staged a dharna near the Oliphant bridge, demanding the immediate shifting of the Gandhi Hospital to the now-vacant Musheerabad jail, while retaining the remaining land for a park.

Mr. Azeez Pasha, State council member of the party, inaugurated the dharna camp and expressed his resentment at the reported intention of the Chief Minister, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, to construct a commercial complex on the premises. He said there was no dearth of such complexes in the twin cities and that the reversal of the late N.T. Rama Rao's decision was unfair.

Among leaders who participated in the agitational programme were State council member, Mr. L.S. Prakash, secretary of the Mandal Council, Mr. R. Vijaykumar, All India Trade Union Congress city secretary, Mr. Raman Nair, and the general secretary of the City's Mahila Samakhya unit, Mrs. L.S. Rajeshwari.
