RBI board reconstituted
MUMBAI, NOV. 28. The Union Government has reconstituted the
central board of directors for the Reserve Bank of India.
Infosys chairman, Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, Ranbaxy Laboratories
CEO and managing director, Mr. Davinder Singh Brar, DLF group
chairman, Mr. Kushpal Singh, ICI chairman, Mr. Ashok Shekhar
Ganguly, and Sundram Fasteners chairman and managing director,
Mr. Suresh Krishna, from the corporate world have been nominated
on the board with effect from November 27 for a four year term.
Principal scientific adviser to Government, Mr. A. P. J. Abdul
Kalam, is also on the board while the Finance Secretary, Mr. Ajit
Kumar, has been nominated on the board with effect from November
23, RBI said in release.
Tata Industries chairman, Mr. Ratan Tata, chartered accountant,
Bilimoria & Co, Mr. Y. H. Malegam and National Dairy Development
Board chairperson, Mr. Amrita Patel, have been retained, the RBI
said.
The other directors are Professor Emeritus Institute of
Development Studies, Prof. Vijay Shankar Vyas, Jawaharlal Nehru
Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Hon. President Mr. C. N.
R. Rao, Supreme Court advocate, Mr. H. P. Ranina, ICRA monetary
research project director, Mr. Mihir Rakshit, and Mr. K. Madhava
Rao, IAS (retd.).
The release said Mr. Rakshit would represent eastern area local
board, Mr. Malegam (western), Prof. Kalam (northern area) and Mr.
Rao the southern local area board.
