Mandela, bank to share Gandhi Prize

NEW DELHI, NOV. 29. The liberator of South Africa and Nobel
laureate, Mr. Nelson Mandela, and Grameen Bank of Bangladesh are
to jointly share the prestigious International Gandhi Peace Prize
for 2000. Announcing this at media conference today, the Union
Tourism and Culture Minister, Mr. Ananth Kumar, said the former
South African President and the bank have been chosen for the
joint honour in recognition of their ``exemplary work resulting
in social, economic and political transformation through non-
violence and Gandhian means.''
