NOCs for 61 educational societies
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, NOV. 30. The State Government has issued `no objection
certificates' (NOCs) to 61 educational societies to set up new
engineering colleges during 2001-2002 and 2002-2003. The
Government had earlier notified 46 locations for setting up these
colleges but the societies favoured with the NOC were only for 37
locations.
The consideration of the applications for the remaining 9 places
had been deferred.
The proposals of the societies along with the NOCs given by the
Government would be forwarded to the All-India Council for
Technical Education (AICTE), which would further verify the
credentials of these societies before according permission to set
up colleges.
Of the 61 societies, eight belong to the minority communities.
Again, 43 societies have been considered for the colleges
proposed to be grounded in 2001-2002 and 18 societies for
colleges proposed in 2002-2003. The NOCs were issued based in the
recommendations of the experts committee headed by Mr. B.V.
Krishna Rao.
The Minister for Technical Education, Mr. Alapati Rajendra
Prasad, told presspersons on Thursday that a single society had
been recommended in respect of some colleges while in other
cases, the credentials of more than one society would be examined
by the AICTE.
The Minister said a task force would be constituted to constantly
monitor the availability of specified infrastructure facilities
in these colleges. He said the societies had been categorised
into A, B and C depending on the fulfilment of the guidelines set
