Stay on processing of applications
By Our Legal Correspondent
HYDERABAD, NOV. 30. Mr. Justice E. Dharma Rao of the A.P. High
Court has restrained the All India Council for Technical
Education (AICTE) from processing the applications for setting up
an engineering college at Narayanpet, Mahabubnagar district.
The stay orders were passed in a writ petition filed by the Viswa
Shanti Educational Society whose application for establishing on
engineering college is pending. The petitioner contended that
after a notification in July 2000 it had made an application and
the authorities with an intention to favour the Vijayanti
Educational Society had issued another notification calling for
fresh applications for a college at Narayanpet. It contended that
calling for afresh applications was not proper.
