Public response to road-widening lauded
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, NOV. 30. One of the important roads in the Miralam
Mandi area of Old city is being widened to 60 feet and will be
developed on the lines of Necklace Road with modern lighting, Dr.
P.K. Mohanty, MCH Commissioner, has said.
The Commissioner told presspersons after a visit by the City-
level Coordination Committee to some of the Old city areas on
Thursday that it was heartening to note the public cooperation to
the widening of the Miralam Mandi Road. The Lad Bazar road would
also be widened to 60 ft.
The officials should take into account the financial status of
residents as also location of religious places. Dr. Mohanty
stated that a committee would be formed to look into the
compensation to be paid to such persons. The Commissioner faulted
construction of temples on the roads, like the one that had come
up in Moghulkanala of Puranapul.
He said the Miralam Tank-Bahadurpura road could be developed as a
double road. A landscape garden would also come up at
Bahadurpura. While stressing the need for improving the parking,
the Commissioner asked the DCP, Traffic, Mr. M.V. Dinakar Prasad,
not to permit parking of sand lorries in the Bahadurpura area.
He also asked the DCP to have traffic signages and lighting in
and around all important city roads in view of the forthcoming
`Friendship meet' here in January. The Collector, Mr. Rajeshwar
Tiwari, Mr. M.G. Gopal, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director,
HMWSSB, and Mr. K. Aravinda Rao, ACP, were also present.
