Clarification
Ms. Arati Mukerji, PR Manager-India, Lucent Technologies, New
Delhi, writes:
With reference to the report ``ITI aggrieved over fate of Rs. 400
crore tender for hi-tech exchanges'' that appeared in these
columns on November 27, I would like to inform you that the
information given is incorrect.
We wish to inform you that the V5.2 interface is always purchased
on the basis of multiples of E1 only and cannot be technically
sub-divided below E1, as stated in the report.
Even in the previous tenders of DoT, the description of ``per
channel of PCM'' is exactly the same as in the current tender. I
would like to take this opportunity to reiterate that Lucent
Technologies, with its international quality products, has quoted
the lowest price in this DoT tender and looks forward to getting
a substantial portion of the order.
