E.C. modifies symbols order

NEW DELHI, DEC.2 The Election Commission has modified the
criteria to determine the status of a political party as
`National' or `State' providing the Communist Party of India
(Marxist) an opportunity to regain its classification as a
national party.
The Commission's notification amending the Election Symbols
(Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968 issued on Friday was
released by the Chief Election Commissioner, Dr. M. S. Gill, at a
press conference today.
