Consumer price index up 5 points in Oct.

SHIMLA, DEC. 2. The all India consumer price index number for industrial workers (CPI-IW) (base 1982-100- for October has increased by five points to 449. The corresponding increase in the same month last year was eight points.

The point to point rate of inflation, based on the CPI-IW decreased from 3.50 per cent in September to 2.75 per cent in October. In October 1999, the rate of inflation was 0.92 per cent.
