The week ahead

THIS week the Sun in Sagittarius makes a conjunction with powerful Pluto, ensuring a very intense week for everyone. Pluto is the planet of all things hidden below the surface, and the Sun is the planet that symbolises the individual.

When they meet up in the sky, we can expect to experience some kind of revelation. Everyone keeps certain sensitive thoughts and emotions on an unconscious level, but Pluto insists that we examine our hidden feelings and motivations. Although at times this can be somewhat discomforting, it is always better to have conscious knowledge of our feelings, so we can control them rather than have them control us.

This week, while you are wrestling with your own personal issues, you can be sure that everyone around you is going through the same thing.

Queries answered

What House is to be taken as Pithru Sthana, the Ninth or the Tenth? Why is the Fifth also referred to?

A. G. Soundararajan, Chennai-18.

FROM practical experience, the Ninth is taken principally as the House representing Father. On the authority of Phala Deepika (by Mantreswara) and Jataka Parijatha, the Ninth House covers Acharya, Deva, and Pitru Bhagya. In a horoscope, the Ninth House, and the Sun, are to be examined for assessing the nature, pattern of life, and role of Father. By the principle of Dhaavaath- Bhaava, the First (Lagna), the Fifth (Poorva Punya), and the Ninth (Pithru) Sthana-s are linked. From the Ninth, Lagna is the Fifth, and the Fifth House is the Fifth from that. That is why the Fifth is also examined.
