Question bank on India
POST "Kaun Banega Crorepati" (KBC), quizzing has become a
national pastime and the days since the gameshow went on air have
seen the market being inundated with quiz books. And, like the
level of questions on "KBC" and its clones that have mushroomed
on other television channels, the quiz books, too, are quite
pedestrian.
But here is a quiz book that seeks to remind people what real
quizzing is like. Put together by two avid quizzers and a person
involved in hosting quiz shows, The Penguin India 2001 Quiz Book
offers a question bank of 2,000 questions, all of them relating
to India.
To break the monotony - particularly if you are quizzing yourself
with the book - the questions have been formatted in sets of 10
in four ways: "KBC"-like multiple choice questions, grid, core
and "Mastermind"-like rapid fire. A good companion for long
journeys, even "KBC" aspirants might find this book useful, for
it includes several questions on Indian history and mythology.
The Penguin India 2001 Quiz Book, Gopa Sabharwal, Himanshu Dube
and Sonia Minocha, Penguin India, Rs. 200.
