This is It: personal favourites
CARTOONIST Sudhir Dar might have moved on from the Hindustan
Times (HT), but still the very mention of his name brings to mind
his pocket cartoon, "This is It" that was the wake-up call for
many readers of the daily all the while he was associated with
it.
The "tasty Indian nut" - as described by Mad magazine - has
rummaged through his entire collection to pick some of his
personal favourites for The Best of Sudhir Dar. A mixed bag,
Dar's selection of 200 cartoons includes some from his HT days
besides his more recent works that featured in the Pioneer
through the 1990s and now at the Delhi Times.
For those who followed Dar's cartoons religiously along with
their morning cuppa and have been missing his departure from the
various dailies he has worked for, this book could be a good way
of staying in touch with his brand of humour that invariably
drives home some home truths.
The Best of Sudhir Dar, Penguin India, Rs. 200.
