'Emotional attachment important in marriage'
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, DEC. 3. Emotional attachment holds more importance
than all other aspects for a successful marriage, felt Dr. M.S.
Reddy, psychiatrist, Apollo Hospitals.
Delivering a talk on "Marriage - Dreams Vs Reality", organised by
Roshni, a distress counselling centre here on Sunday, he
expressed the opinion that there were no immediate solutions to
keep the dreams that come with a marriage alive for a long time.
But for a long lasting relationship both the partners have to
jointly work out an effective way.
According to him, there was a large difference in how women and
men handle their emotions. Women avoid aggression by avoiding
talking with their partners while men are more aggressive. A
better communication channel between the partners would help
smoothen the relationship, he said.
He said of late women in the country had become more open in
discussing the relationship and the problems in it. They want
their partners to respect and listen to their views. However, he
cautioned that women should not generalise men.
