Spike Technologies buys EDA tools from Cadence

BANGALORE, DEC. 5. Cadence Design Systems Inc., considered the world's leading supplier of electronic design products and services with an active presence in India, announced that Spike Technologies Inc. has acquired a complete set of EDA (electronic design automation) tools for providing comprehensive turnkey services to its customers.

Mr. Nikhil Modi, President and CEO of Spike Technologies, said: "Several of our customers are interested in Spike providing COT design services, and with Cadence tools, we will provide complete turnkey solutions".

Cadence is the largest supplier of electronic design automation products, methodology services and design services used to accelerate and manage the design of semiconductors, computer systems, networking and telecommunications equipment, consumer electronics and many other electronics-based products. Cadence had 1999 revenues of $1.1 billion.

Inprise to change name

Inprise Corporation has announced that it intends to officially change its name to Borland Software Corporation. The process of changing the name will be completed during the first quarter of 2001 till when it will retain its old name. Once the process is completed, the company expects to change its Nasdaq market symbol from `INPR' to `BORL'.

Mr. Dale L. Fuller, President and CEO of the company, said: "The Borland name symbolises a new start for the company which had proved itself over the past 18 months with two consecutive quarters of profitability".

Inprise is a leading provider of Internet access infrastructure and application development tools and services for all major platforms.

Viewpoint 2.0 launched

Galileo India, a leading provider of computerised reservation systems (CRS), has introduced Viewpoint 2.0, its latest travel- sales management solution. It is an easy-to-use reservation product that allows travel agents quicker and easier access to the Galileo CRS on a graphic user interface. It ensures reliable and up-to-the-minute information for booking or changing travel reservations at the travel agent's desktop.

Mr. Raja Natesan, General Manager, Galileo India, said Viewpoint 2.0 had several advanced features that allowed travel agents to offer services to customers including direct e-mailing of their travel itineraries before or after ticketing.

Connecting a browser via Viewpoint is the first step towards Web content integration.

Taj initiative

The Taj corporate website, www.tajhotel.com, announced special winter holidays packages in over 50 hotels of the Taj Group in India, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Nepal. The website features comprehensive information on the hotel and resorts in the Taj group and special interest packages, all of which can be booked or requested online.

The Taj is in the process of exploring the Internet to the fullest, to offer browsers a wider range of packages and services. The Taj group is also forming strategic alliances with leading Indian and international travel-related sites and net- based service providers.
