Prohibitory orders clamped in city
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, DEC. 5. Elaborate security arrangements have been made
in the city on Tuesday to meet with any kind of eventuality on
Wednesday in connection with the proposed bandh and observance of
`black day' on the anniversary of demolition of Babri Masjid.
Prohibitory orders have been clamped in the entire south zone and
parts of west and east zones and over 5,600 policemen, including
Rapid Action Force and A.P. Special Police, would be on duty.
Disclosing this in a press release here on Tuesday, the
Commissioner of Police, Mr. S.R. Sukumara, said permission was
accorded to a group to take out a silent rally between 3 p.m. and
4 p.m. from DBR mills to Indira park. Armed police pickets have
been posted at sensitive places and mobile patrolling had also
been beefed up. In all, 52 platoons of APSP and four companies of
RAF would be assisting the city police in maintenance of law and
order.
The police have also taken up extensive checking of vehicles and
frisking of people travelling late night. At all the entry points
of the city, police were stopping vehicles and letting them in
only after a thorough check. The Commissioner has appealed to the
people to cooperate with the police and contact any police
station or the control room if they needed any clarification on
any rumours in the city.
