PM for temple at disputed site
The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee,
today just stopped short of articulating his party's old formula
for resolving the Ayodhya tangle, which was `Mandir wahin
banayenge.' (We will build the temple only at the disputed site).
Trinamool, TDP seek explanation
Two major supporters of the Vajpayee
Government, one inside and one outside the Government, sought an
explanation from the Prime Minister on his remarks on the Ayodhya
dispute, especially the comment that the task of building the Ram
temple had remained incomplete; and at least one party seems less
than satisfied.
Come up with ideas, Sattar tells New Delhi
The Pakistan Foreign Minister, Mr. Abdul
Sattar, has urged India to come up with ideas to resolve the
Kashmir conflict if the formulation put forth by Pakistan was not
acceptable to it.
ULFA guns down 26
In the continuing massacre of non-Assamese
people, a five-man group of ULFA militants gunned down 26 persons
and injured 16 others, mostly Hindi and Bengali-speaking, at
Sonpura near Arunachal border in Upper Assam around 5.30 p.m.
today.

SC orders closure of polluting units in Delhi
The Supreme Court, while reserving orders on
the issue of contempt against the Chief Secretary, Delhi
Government and the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi,
ordered the closure of all polluting industrial units operating
in the residential and non-conforming areas of Delhi within four
weeks.
3 killed in Kashmir blasts
Three persons were killed and 38, including
three CRPF jawans, were injured in attacks by militants in
Kupwara and Kishtwar today, the 10th day of the ceasefire. Two
militants were killed in an encounter in Poonch.
Navy changes tack
The Navy today said the security guard injured
in the `shootout' at the residence of the Chief of Naval Staff,
Admiral Sushil Kumar, has ``amended his statement.''
NBW against Rajesh Khanna
A local court today issued a non-bailable
warrant(NBW) of arrest against actor, Rajesh Khanna, after he
failed to appear in a bunch of cases concerning tax evasion.
