Attendance in post offices improves

CHENNAI, DEC. 8. As many as 305 post offices all over the State
functioned today, the fourth day of the strike called by three
federations of the Postal employees.
Besides, 33 railway mail service offices also operated, according
to a press release issued by the Postal department.
More than 2,500 customers came to the Anna Road Head Post Office
in Chennai while stamps were sold at the post offices in Anna
Nagar, T.Nagar and St. Thomas Mount and the GPO.
In Nagercoil, Kisan Vikas Patras to the tune of Rs. 20 lakhs were
discharged. In Coimbatore Central post office, about 5,000 old
age pension money orders for an amount of Rs.10.3 lakhs were
booked.
The press release said there was a marginal increase in the staff
strength which went up from 1,669 on Thursday to 1,705 today.
