President, PM greet Sonia on birthday


NEW DELHI, DEC. 9. The President, Mr. K.R. Narayanan, the Vice- President, Mr. Krishan Kant, and the Prime Minister, Mr. A.B. Vajpayee, greeted the Congress president, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, who turned 55 today. They sent bouquets to her wishing her a happy birthday.

The Lok Sabha Speaker, Mr. G.M.C. Balayogi, and several Union Ministers including Mr. Yashwant Sinha, Mr. Jaswant Singh and Ms. Mamta Banerjee congratulated her on the occasion.

The Rajya Sabha deputy chairperson, Mrs. Najma Heptulla, Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled States Mr. Ashok Gehlot (Rajasthan), Mr. S.M. Krishna (Karnataka), Mr. Vilasrao Deshmukh (Maharashtra) and Mrs. Sheila Dixit (Delhi) visited her residence to greet her.
