Maneka stops train
FARIDABAD, DEC. 10. A Howrah-bound goods train from Punjab
carrying 634 cows, allegedly meant for slaughtering, was stopped
at the old railway station here, following an intervention by the
Union Minister of State for Social Justice and animal activist,
Ms. Maneka Gandhi.
Authorities arrested five persons escorting the animals under the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and seized 175 bottles of
oxytocine, a banned medicine used to increase milk yield, railway
officials said.
