By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, DEC. 11. A two-day programme began here on Monday for
training TDP leaders who will supervise the conduct of primary
level organisational elections of the party from December 15 to
21.
In the week-long exercise, TDP workers will elect more than eight
lakh representatives to 60,000 booth-level committees and 35,000
panchayat and municipal wards. The second and third phases of the
elections will be held in February and March to choose mandal and
district-level representatives respectively.
The training programme was attended by 123 party leaders who are
district TDP convenors, coordinators and revenue division-level
observers. These leaders will, in turn, train partymen in their
respective districts who will fan out into nearly 35,000 villages
carrying the party's message.
As part of the training, the district leaders were given
orientation lectures about the Government's vision for Andhra
Pradesh and the missions it has launched for achieving total
literacy, eradication of poverty, generating employment and
conserving water besides power sector reforms.
The Home Minister, Mr. T. Devender Goud, the School Education
Minister, Mr. K. Srihari, the Excise Minister, Mr. T. T.
Nageswara Rao, the Power Minister, Mr. K. Subbarayudu, and party
leaders, Prof. C. Lakshmanna, Mr. Ch. Rajeshwara Rao and Mr. R.
Chandrasekhar Reddy, addressed the participants.
The TDP president, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, will interact with
the partymen on Tuesday when all the TDP MLAs and constituency
in-charges will also join the training programme.
